RIA Scotland welcomes the publication of the Strategic Business Plan

28 July 2023

RIA Scotland, the voice of the Scottish rail supply community, has welcomed the publication of Scotland's Railway’s Strategic Business Plan.

The Strategic Business Plan is a critical step in the periodic review 2023 (PR23) process. This process determines the outputs Scotland’s Railway will deliver in exchange for funding received from Scottish Ministers, and access charges received from train operators, for the period between April 2024 and March 2029 (Control Period 7 or CP7).

Commenting, RIA Scotland Chair, Meirion Thomas, said:

“The Railway Industry Association and our members in Scotland greatly welcome the publication of the Strategic Business Plan.

“The new plan will need to be considered carefully, but it comes at an important point for rail suppliers when freight and passenger numbers, and revenues, continue to head in the right direction post-pandemic. We look forward to reviewing the Business Plan and providing our more detailed response.”
