Northern rail businesses welcome HS2 decision

Today the Prime Minister has made a statement on HS2.
Justin Moss and Mike Hulme, Co-Chairs of Northern Rail Industry Leaders (NRIL), said: “The decision to proceed with HS2 is very welcome today and something Northern Rail Industry Leaders (NRIL) wrote to the Prime Minister and have been actively lobbying Government on, as we believe it will unlock investment and economic growth across the country, including in the North of England. NRIL and its members are ready to deliver this vital project, generating new jobs, developing skills and boosting investment as the project gets underway. We also urge the Government to make further supportive decisions on Northern Powerhouse Rail, Trans Pennine Route Upgrade and other similar schemes, so we can truly unlock the North’s economic potential.”
