A new look for the Railway Industry Association

3 June 2024

Today (3 June), the Railway Industry Association (RIA) is unveiling a new logo, brand and website, as it approaches 150 years of championing the railway industry (its 150-Year Anniversary is in 2025).

Since its inception in 1875 as the then Locomotive Manufacturer’s Association, RIA has been a leading voice in the UK rail supply community, and believes the time is now right to establish a new look, with UK rail itself being refreshed post-election, whatever the result of the poll next month.

The new look for RIA will include a new strapline in line with its core purpose, “Championing a dynamic rail supply sector”, as the RIA team does everything it can to help build a bigger and better railway industry in the months and years ahead.

There will also be a new website, to enable members and other visitors to the site to easily keep up to date with the latest RIA news and events, reports, developments, and much more. The site will also house benefits from last year’s Rail Business Daily (RBD) acquisitions, including hosting the RBD Members Directory, which all RIA members can access.

Darren Caplan, RIA Chief Executive, said: “We hope that RIA members, the wider supply sector, industry stakeholders and anyone with an interest in rail will like the new brand and website, as we prepare to celebrate 150 years representing and campaigning for the UK rail supply community, and look ahead to an exciting future for the industry as rail passengers and freight levels grow in the years ahead.

“The new logo, brand and website has been designed to be modern, energetic and easily recognisable, whilst still being quintessentially RIA. RIA’s strapline has been updated to ‘Championing a dynamic rail supply industry’ and our website has been modernised too, to reflect the fact our members see their businesses as forward-looking and innovative, and that they want their Association to be a strong influence in growing the rail industry, whether via our policy and comms, lobbying, technical, innovation, exports, events and information, and countrywide Nations & Regions work.

“We hope people will like the new look!”
