The Railway Industry Association (RIA) is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year, coinciding with the 200th anniversary of rail in the UK. To honour these historic milestones, we are commemorating RIA's past, and reflecting on the journey of rail, with our RIA150 networking reception and after party.
We would like to extend an invitation to all rail professionals to join us at The Garden, Vauxhall, on 10 July 2025, where attendees will be able to engage with key stakeholders and other members of the dynamic rail supply chain in a relaxed setting. This occasion will provide a lively celebration of the vibrant past of rail as well as its promising future. We recognise and would like to reflect on the strong partnership between the history of rail and our association, where our innovative members have been the driving force for change and transformation for a century and a half.
As attendees gather at this reception, we will celebrate and cherish the shared passion and collaboration that has propelled the rail industry over the last 150 years and hopefully many more in the future!
Andy Lord, Commissioner for Transport for London
"Congratulations to RIA on their 150th anniversary of supporting and advocating for the railway industry. TfL’s supply chain reaches all four corners of the country, and we wouldn’t be able to move people around our capital city without the tireless work across our supply chain. Nearly a third of our supply chain activity and economic benefit is felt outside London. RIA supports TfL to connect further with partners in the rail industry and I look forward to continuing our strong working relationship in the years to come."
Sir Andrew Haines, Chief Executive, Network Rail
“For 150 years, the Railway Industry Association has championed the skilled hands and expert minds of Britain’s railways, driving innovation, technical excellence and an unwavering commitment to keeping our country connected. From small enterprises to major contractors, RIA members have propelled our railway from the steam age to the digital era. As we celebrate this milestone, we look forward to an enduring collaboration, powering the railway’s vital role in our future.”
