Hird Rail Development tackle trespassing

13 July 2020 | Hird Rail Development

Trespassing continues to be a persistent issue on the railways, delaying on average some 440 trains per day and posing a serious risk to life. Moreover, 70% of trespassing takes place within 100 metres of stations. With over 2,500 stations on the network, each with multiple platform ends, the collective impact on safety and performance is significant.

In response to this, Hird Rail Development (HRD) is excited to announce a new addition to the PRISMA Modular Deterrent System range. The PRISMA OffTrack panel is specifically designed for platform edges and ends, with the increased pyramid heights presenting a formidable deterrent to any would-be trespassers and significantly slowing their progress should they choose to engage. The OffTrack panel seamlessly interfaces with the existing OnTrack panel to form a complete system. Using a simple ‘tongue and groove’ connection, multiple panels can be laid in a variety of different combinations to suit a range of applications.

Made from recycled aircraft tyres and compliant with manual handling regulations for a two-man lift, the PRISMA product range is in keeping with the HIRD Group’s ethos of bringing sustainable, safety-focused solutions to market with a minimal carbon footprint.

Not just confined to the rail industry, the PRISMA Modular Deterrent System can be deployed across a range of sectors where trespassing needs to be tackled.
